GRAND CRU COLLECTION
All of the wines in this series are without exception Rieslings and selected from our famous steep slopes. We attach great importance to natural cultivation and expansion in oak barrels and stainless steel tanks. These fine wines are fruity with a low residual sweetness and a remarkable lightness, dry taste and wonderfully harmonious in the interplay of fruit and acid.
Ungsberg
These vines populate the south-facing vineyard that was originally planted in Riesling early in the 17th Century. Of Roman origin, wines from this, our steepest vineyard, are distinguished by notes of chamomile and saffron, produced by a rich cover of medical herbs. This vineyard, lying in a side valley near Trarbach, provides wine with elegant structure and complex fruit aromas and ripe, fine acidity.
Expressive, complex Riesling with and layers of structure.

Burgberg
A west-facing slope that rises steeply from the village of Trarbach to the ruins of the 14th Century Grevenburg castle, the Burgberg is characterized by blue and gray slate. The vineyard is helped by the mild climate of the nearby Mosel River, and produces a well-balanced and structured Riesling with light oak overtones.

Burgberg “M”
Our classic Prädikat “M” comes from the Grand Cru Burgberg vineyard, distinguished by blue and gray slate with a presence of quartz. The “M” is our tribute to our long history and the river that witnessed it; it is our only wine that is made as it was 50-100 years ago—with full fruit and aged grapes. Depending on the year, this wine is made as a Kabinett, Spätlese, or Auslese—or a combination of these styles.

Hühnerberg
Adjoining the Ungsberg, with an almost identical concave shape, the Hühnerberg also overlooks the Kautenbach side valley. It was our luck in 2014 to acquire a small parcel of this vineyard, completely planted with Alte Reben—old growth vines. Characterized by gray and brown slate, the 2014 vintage was our first harvest from the Hühnerberg.
